Tofasco very early on recognized the emergence and potential of a Chinese manufacturing base to satisfy the West's already substantial and growing appetite for affordable consumer goods. The problem, challenge and opportunity were in determining how to bridge the physical, linguistic, cultural and developmental gap between China-based manufacturing and Western markets. In 1994, Tofasco was launched with the specific goal of breaching this chasm, and with the mission of turning these challenges into tangible business and profit opportunities.
